I noticed the Freeman charcoal scrub mask in the Tesco skincare aisle. I was immediately drawn to the the sachets as I had been exposed to the brand thanks to my american friends on youtube who often give the Freeman brand major props.
There were a few options to pick from, knowing that charcoal is a purifier I felt compelled to definitely pick it up to try. In total I picked up two types in the range which I felt met the needs of my combination skin and the amazing price point (under two quid no less) meant I had to take them home with me.
On mask day, I prepped my skin for my charcoal scrub mask by washing my face, I held back on exfoliating and I was glad I did once I opened the sachet.
I was taken aback by the gritty texture, after all I had signed up for a mask and I’d never experienced a mask with this consistency before. The consistency I would describe as being like caster sugar mixed with an oil or liquid. I applied the mask generously all over my face, the instructions claimed there was enough for 2-4 applications however I’m not really fond of storing an opened sachet for a few days till the next application. Also I think the portion was enough for one application.
I waited for 15 minutes with the mask on, during this time I felt a warming sensation on my face which is expected according to the sachet. It also instructs you to massage the mask for a minute or two before rinsing off. I massaged my face for a minute paying particular attention to my nose area which is prone to blackheads and then I rinsed off with lukewarm water.
The mask is truly what I would describe as a polish. My skin felt refreshed, polished, smooth and moisturised which is not an experience I have often with masks. My face felt baby skin soft and my night moisturiser applied like a dream.
I am glad I was able to try the sachet without paying for a full size that may or may not have worked. I am definitely buying this in full size and if ever I get the chance to travel stateside this will be firmly on my list to stock up. Have you tried this mask before? Or another product from this brand? Let me know anything I’m missing out on an should try in addition.
