Weekends are for brunch and thats exactly what I did last weekend. I made my way down to Vauxhall for one of London’s best kept secrets ‘Counter’. its described as a buzzy all day brassiere and on the weekend brunch is served till 5pm.
On Saturday I rolled up just after 12. At the entrance we were greeted warmly with a smile and directed to our seats which was a cosy booth big enough for four people. I immediately ordered an english breakfast Tea and had a look at the menu which changes seasonally.
I settled on the nutella stuffed french toast raspberry compote with vanilla creme fraiche. I did ask the waiter to let the chef know to omit the raspberry compote to which they happily obliged and I asked for a side of smoked salmon to accompany the french toast (is this weird??!!lol)
Cousin Benita opted for the Eggs Royale and a side of roasted mushrooms with roasted garlic butter.
Food arrived as described, however the mushrooms came towards the end of our meal which wasn’t ideal and our waiter was slow to meet our requests for condiments, so slow we had to ask another waiter to assist us. Aside from this mishap the food went down a treat as has always been the case.
