It was inevitable I had to test this out. Yes I’m a victim of peer pressure. I picked up a bottle of the Nivea Post Shave Balm in my local wilkos with the intention of using it as a primer. I had watched endless tutorials and reviews proclaiming this as the new thing and was intrigued to find out if this raved about product would live up to the hype.
In regards to the pricing, this is modestly priced at under £5 and comes in luxurious packaging. The bottle is made of a heavy thick glass which looks really nice however is not very travel friendly. Once opened the product inside is a white gel like cream consistency. I used a 10 p sized amount all over my face, the moisturising properties are amazing and the produce is instantly absorbed by the skin. The smell is also very strong but in my opinion very nice, it smells like a typical male fragrance. If you don’t like strong fragrance you will not appreciate the scent.
Once makeup is applied on top of the balm, it adheres to the skin very nicely. The end result is a rather flawless application. In terms of makeup longevity I am afraid to say this product didn’t do much for me. I have combination skin and this left me looking like an oil slick after the end of a long working day. Moving forward I would probably use this as more of a moisturising or smoothing primer, and use in conjunction with a oil free primer or a primer for reducing shine.
Have you given in to the hype? What is your skin type and overall verdict on the Nivea Post Shave Balm as a primer?
